Over the course of this class, I wrote and submitted three final papers. My writing process for all three papers was similar, as I always start by making a list of ideas and points that I want to address. I then do some research, to try and find reliable sources to include. Then, I decide what I want the main focus of each of my body paragraphs to be, and then begin writing my introduction and conclusion.
The first piece I wrote was titled "Dating in Today's Generation". This paper was so fun to write because the topic I chose was something I already had so many thoughts on and ideas about, so writing this paper came naturally to me. I discussed the dangers of online dating and how it can actually be diminishing the importance of making in person connections, and I also explained the concept of "red flags", which although a Gen Z trending term, are a very real thing. I finished the paper by offering what I believe to be the best attempt at a solution to the proposed dating crisis.
The second was titled "A Guide to Growth from Lexi Hidalgo". This may have been my favorite piece that I wrote all class! I hardly ever pay attention to influences or famous celebrities, and I am rarely on YouTube or following one specific person religiously. However, when my one and only exception to this is Lexi Hidalgo. She is considered an influencer, and has tons of followers on all social media platforms, where she posts a variety of content. She also has a podcast called Moments, which I have listened to before. This paper I wrote about her discussed how and why I think the messages she speaks on and the encouragement and advice she gives are so important and beneficial to girls of any age.
The third and final paper was titled "Trauma Impacts on Childhood Development". This was my most challenging paper of the semester for many reasons. One reason was that it had the longest length requirement, and the most citation demands. Another reason was because it was more of a report style, informational paper and I felt as though I had less creative freedom here. Childhood Development is actually my intended major here at college, so although I have more knowledge of the subject than the average individual does, I quickly realized I did not have enough knowledge to write a seven page long paper entirely about one subtopic of Childhood Development.
I am proud of all three of my papers, and appreciative of the opportunities to learn more about writing processes.
